On June 13th & 14th Houston’s Beer Fest celebrates its 5th birthday. It will feature over 65 breweries and 25 bands over four stages.

Located at Hermann Square and Tranquility Park, this years’ event will cost $35 for one-day passes, but will include the music and 12 two-ounce beer samples. Like what you tasted? 12-oz beers will also be available. If you just want to kick it outside and listen to the music, your entry fee drops down to $20.
There is also a fancy-pants VIP ticket (which is $200 on Saturday, $100 Sunday), and includes general admission, early entry into festival (one hour earlier), a private VIP sampling session; catered meal; VIP viewing deck next to main stage; VIP lounge with access to premium bar and private bathrooms (that’s worth it alone), and commemorative 5th birthday beer fest swag.

The party kicks off Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, but sampling hours go from noon to 4 p.m. both days. The people pouring your beers are from Spectrum Concessions, ‘a professional event management and concessionaire company’, so the service should be smooth and prompt.
The breweries will definitely be bringing the goods, but will also have various interactive events throughout the weekend. According to Houston Beer Fest, Saint Arnold will have live graffiti painting and will have limited-edition sampling of Bishop’s Barrel and Divine Reserve everyone hour from noon until 3 p.m. , or until it runs out.
Buffalo Bayou and Karbach Brewing, both Houston breweries also have extra goodies planned like frozen beer and games such as Extreme Air Hockey and Jenga.
As for the music, there will be plenty of variety. Groups from Chamillionaire to Mute Math ensure that everyone attending will have something to enjoy. Houston brewery, 8th Wonder, has its own stage featuring musical acts like, Craig Kinsey/Sideshow Tramps, Emily Bell, Quiet Company and The Soapbox Revolution.
