New York Restaurants Pitch in for Texas Flood Relief

The rains may have stopped, but the relief efforts are ongoing.  Thankfully, people from all over continue to pitch in with time and/or money to help with the relief efforts from the Memorial Day flooding that happened throughout Texas.

A handful of Texas-themed New York restaurants have joined together to help using a GoFundMe campaign with proceeds benefiting The United Way of Central Texas and the Hays County Food Bank.  Here are more details on the campaign,  “For every donation above $50, a Taste of Texas Passport will be issued. Valued at over $100 , this passport gets you a dish at each of the participating restaurants as a thank you for your support of our friends in Texas”.

If you’ve been watching the news you’ve heard about the devastating flooding in Texas, and the thousands of families that are injured and homeless. To help as we can, a bunch of NYC based Texas-oriented restaurants are teaming up to host a fundraiser, and now I’m asking you to pitch in. Here’s how it works:

A growing list of Texas themed restaurants are putting together a ‘passport’ that’s filled with meals for their establishments. We’re donating Hot Link sausages. Currently, the value of the passport is well over $100, and more restaurants are signing on daily. We need you to go on to our ‘Go Fund Me’ site and donate, and then we need you to tell your friends.

The restaurants are donating all of the food, and the organizers are donating 100% of proceeds to help families in Texas. It’s win-win.- Daniel Delaney, Delaney Barbecue. Brooklyn, NY.

The Passports will be issued to arrive at your address no later than July 1st, 2015.

Restaurants participating so far:

Brooklyn Kolache Co. – 3 Kolaches
Delaney BBQ – Texas Hot Link Sausage
BeeHive Oven – Fried Green Tomatoes
Dram Shop – Frito Pie or Cheeseburger w/Fries
Javelina – The Bob Armstrong dip
Guero’s Brooklyn – 2 Tacos
Juiceland Brooklyn – 14oz
Tres Carnes – Chips and Guacamole
El Original
Stan’s CafeCito – Choice of Burrito

In addition, some restaurants will be offering a special premium experience to those that would like to donate at a larger level of $1000 or more.

I’ve lived in Texas all my life and can’t express how much I love this state. I found that I was enjoying these amazing bbq spots and drinking fantastic Texas-made beer and wanted my buddies and I to be able to share them with our readers.
