Aaron Franklin wins James Beard Award

The line in front of Franklin BBQ may be getting a little longer.

Aaron Franklin took home Best Chef-Southwest  honors at the 2015 James Beard Awards  ceremony held on May 4th.  Franklin was up against some amazing nominees for the Southwest region including Justin Yu from Oxheart in Houston; Bryce Gilmore from Barley Swine in Austin; and Kevin Binkley from Binkley’s in Cave Creek, in Arizona.

For over 24 years, the James Beard Foundation give rewards to people for sharing amazing food from chefs, restaurant owners, publishers and the like. This win marks the first time a pitmaster has won the award for best chef, so it opens a lot of doors for people in the industry, and will hopefully raise the bar one what it means to be producing great food, not just barbecue.

Franklin’s notoriety has exceeded anyone’s expectations on what barbecue can represent, and his publicity is backed by impeccable service and food quality.

I’ve lived in Texas all my life and can’t express how much I love this state. I found that I was enjoying these amazing bbq spots and drinking fantastic Texas-made beer and wanted my buddies and I to be able to share them with our readers.
