From Adam’s Rib Came Meat and Pie
With two locations in East Texas, Adam’s Rib is serving patrons BBQ with southern staple sides and fried pies. Adam’s was originally opened by a couple in Lakeport, near Lake Cherokee, that passed away. However, the BBQ tradition lives on with new owners and a new location. In addition to the Lakeport joint, there is now a location along Highway 80 in Longview.
I recently had lunch at the Highway 80 spot with my buddy Vince. While this was my first time at Adam’s, Vince had been a customer of both locations. As customary for me when I first visit a joint, I ordered a three meat plate with two sides. For my three meats I chose ribs, brisket and turkey. My side options went to baked beans and mac n’ cheese. On the menu you’ll also find sausage, hot links, pork, chicken, and side options reaching the double digits.
You might be surprised to also find tacos on the Adam’s Rib menu including beef, chicken, and pork. My buddy went with beef tacos, of which he has long since been a fan.
After we stuffed our gullets Vince used his uncanny power of persuasion to convince me that a fried pie was in order. It was a decision I did not regret. Adam’s offers both sweet and savory fried pies that you are more likely to see while traveling through Louisiana than Texas. Please note that there is no frosting covering the crust of this cherry fried pie.
If you love someone, or are loved by someone, be sure to pick up one of the many varieties of fried pie that they offer. It’ll go a long way.
